Gordy was truly instrumental in helping me get into Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, among other top MBA programs. I highly recommend Gordy for assistance in every aspect of the MBA application process!
Gordy was recommended by a good friend as an alternative GMAT prep source to the larger prep services such as Manhattan or Kaplan. Gordy helped this friend score high enough on his GMAT to be accepted into the Wharton School of Business. We worked together to identify my weaknesses, create a custom study plan, and he held me accountable through frequent tutoring sessions. I am not an excellent standardized test taker but he helped me score high enough to be accepted into the Haas School of Business. If you wish to increase your GMAT score by 150+ points on a flexible schedule, I highly recommend Gordy.
I have known Mr. Gordy Steil for over eight years, and not once have I been disappointed by the personable and creative touch he adds to his tutoring and mentoring services.Although Gordy has various assets that make him an effective instructor, I would like take some time to attest to two: his expertise in SAT tutoring and his unique approach to producing successful college applications. Gordy has taught all portions of the exam—math, critical reading, and writing—and I have especially learned much from his advice in producing effective SAT essays. In the beginning stages of my preparation for the SAT, I would receive around 1700/2400 on practice tests, but through his personalized guides and exams (published preparation books are only one of the tools he uses to prepare students), I have been able to receive an average of 2320/2400 on the actual SATs, with 12/12 on each of the essay sections.
You can’t get better than him as far as expertise, experience, and communication. I really believe I got into my first choice for grad school because of him. He is the BEST!!!! I highly recommend him to anyone.
Gordy put together an excellent GMAT self-study strategy for me. I found it much more effective than classroom instruction and a very efficient way to prepare. I highly recommend his services to any busy professionals who don’t have time to sit through hours of classes. Gordy has years of experience in this field, and his advice and tips are invaluable.
I first met Gordy when I was in high school and he was my SAT instructor at a tutoring center. He designed and taught a thorough lesson plan for the writing and reading comprehension sections. In particular, I remember the reading comprehension portions, in which he prepared current reading materials taken from news articles and had the students apply critical thinking in order to simulate the SAT essay- this was SO helpful! Gordy was also my college app. coach and he helped me by sitting with me and discussing how to formulate a concise and personal college essay. He also worked with me in editing my grammatical errors and awkward sentences and he was especially helpful in truncating my essay to fit the word limit.I didn’t hesitate to contact Gordy, again, and he worked with me throughout the whole application process. He was wonderful to work with because he retained my writing style and my story in all of my essays but was able to help me convey them in a more mature, professional and concise way.
